Tuna Fishing
As part of both the CHART and Thunnus scientific tagging programmes our main angling focus is the majestic Atlantic Bluefin Tuna. Eloise of Ladram is the most comprehensively equipped Charter Vessel operating in the South West today. Season is from mid-August to mid-December. Come and catch the fish of your dreams and contribute to creating a sustainable fishery.

Bass Fishing
The fast flowing waters around the Isle of Wight are renowned as some of the best in the UK for the most iconic of species… Bass (Sea Bass). Rob has fished here for over 30 years and has a wealth of experience catching these fish. Using the most sporting methods, we concentrate our efforts with lures or live baits and fish every type of mark, from shallow sand banks to deep wrecks and rocky reefs.

Shark Fishing
Prior to the Tuna Season, Eloise of Ladram offers Shark fishing around the waters of the Isle of Wight. Our main targets are Thresher and Porbeagle sharks that the area is renowned for, we fish the tide races off St Catherine’s point and the famed rips 20 miles south of the island. All equipment and our secret chum blend are supplied as part of your charter and we offer overnight trips to maximize your chances.

Hook & Cook Trips
Our Hook & Cook Trips offer the chance to not only see the fabulous sights of the Isle of Wight but also catch yourself a wonderful dinner or lunch. During the day, Rob will concentrate your fishing around the tastiest species available and over slack water you’ll have the chance to haul lobster and crab pots. After your experience at sea, we can offer several options of places to enjoy your catch.

We can also tailor a trip just for you. Activities include: General Angling for many species, Sightseeing, Paddle Boarding, Ocean Swimming and Secret Beach Picnics. We can even drop you on the Isle of Wight for lunch. Aside to our leisure charters, Eloise and her professional crew can also be chartered for Media, Film, Regatta and Survey works.

Rob has fished extensively all over the world for Pelagic Species, his knowledge is second to none and he is recognized by the IGFA as part of their Captains Programme. All of Eloise’s crew are trained by CEFAS as per the requirements of CHART 2023.

the boat
Eloise of Ladram is a Rodman 1250 sports cruiser built in 2006. Built in Spain the 1250 is one of the most recognisable sports fishing boats used in the Eastern Atlantic big game fisheries. Powered by Twin 400hp Volvo engines she has a great turn of speed. We cruise to the fishing grounds at 20kts with ease with much more in reserve if required. The large (heated in winter) saloon has comfortable seating for all. There is also a galley, coffee machine, kettle and roomy electric flush head. Up top there is a large fly bridge area, perfect for spotting Tuna or just enjoying the sun when the weather allows.

There is no denying ABFT are one of the hardest fighting fish in our oceans, their huge size, muscular bulk and speed tests tackle to the absolute limit. Fishing for Giant Bluefin Tuna requires the strongest tackle, highest quality rods, reels and lines.
Eloise is fitted with a full set of US built, Rupp Tournament Pro outriggers and kitted with the finest rods and reels available. Everything is rigged onboard so we can ensure the integrity of the most important part of the equation….the end tackle!

Our main fishery and target is the Giant Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, we fish for these majestic creatures between August and December each year. Huge shoals of these incredible fish migrate to the waters of the SW in search of food before continuing on their migration southwards in to the Bay of Biscay and beyond.

the science
Tuna fishing in the UK is highly regulated by DEFRA, CEFAS and the MMO on behalf of the UK Govt.
Eloise has worked on two scientific studies, the Cefas run ‘CHART’ (CatcH And Release Tagging) and the more in depth and long standing Exeter University project Thunnus UK. Now, in 2024, after successful lobbying with the British Government, Eloise will be part of the first ever licensed recreational catch and release fishery in the UK.
